Habits and identity: evidence without the performance trap
Identity can motivate: “I am someone who shows up.” It can also trap: “I am a failure because I missed.” dailio is a habit tracker aiming for the first without the second—using streaks and week rows as evidence, not verdicts. The app is in development; language and visuals are still being refined before we launch soon.
Evidence, not ego
A week row should help you notice patterns: Tuesdays are hard, mornings work better, your partner’s check-in helps. It should not turn a miss into a moral collapse. This stance also shapes friend streaks: friends witness effort, they do not adjudicate character.
Healthy identity prompts (for real life)
- “I return quickly” beats “I never miss.”
- “I adjust honestly” beats “I power through.”
- “We support each other” beats “We compete.”
